Iceland defender Viktor Palsson said what he expects from his national team's match against Ukraine in the final play-off round of the Euro 2024 qualifying round, which will take place next Tuesday in Wroclaw.
"We will have to play against a very strong team with a lot of quality players. Zinchenko, Mudryk, Dovbik are superstars who play in the best clubs and leagues in the world. The Ukrainian national team has a really excellent selection of personalities and a good team.
We haven't started analysing the opponent yet, it will start on Saturday night. I think the Ukrainian team is a little bit better than the Israeli team we played in the playoff semi-final, but that doesn't mean we can't beat them. However, we will need to be at our best to succeed. We are one step away from the European Championship and we are going to give our best.
We analysed our match against Israel and saw things that we need to correct. But there were some good things in our game that we need to transfer to the match with Ukraine: in some parts of the match we showed that we can play really good football. And, of course, we know that we can defend well. The main thing is that everyone, without exception, clearly followed the game plan. Teamwork will be crucial for us in the match against Ukraine," Palsson said at yesterday's press conference.
