On Tuesday, 26 March, the Ukrainian national team defeated Iceland 2-1 in the final match of the play-off round of the Euro 2024 qualifying cycle and reached the final part of the tournament. Here is the post-match press conference of the head coach of the Ukrainian national team Serhiy Rebrov.
- What do you think of the fans' support at today's match?
- I am grateful to the fans that even after conceding a goal they supported us a lot. We really felt this support. I think everyone deserved this win today - our fans, WSU and our team.
- Can we consider that after today's match the issue with the main goalkeeper of the Ukrainian national team is closed?
- It is never closed. How can you consider that the issue with any player is closed? The Euro question is not closed regarding any player. Now it is very important that players get practice in their clubs and prepare for the European Championship.
- Can this victory be considered one of the most important in the history of the Ukrainian national team?
- I think that this is really a very important victory not only for the team and its players, but also for all the Ukrainian people, for our country, for our soldiers. I am very grateful to the players, because these two matches in the play-offs were really very hard and nervous. And before and after the matches, we talked to the guys about the fact that the victories are for our country, for the people, for the fighters who defend our freedom. I think everyone understands how important this victory is.
