Iceland midfielder: "Huge disappointment. We were 45 minutes away from Euro 2024"

Iceland midfielder Hakon Arnar Haraldsson commented on the defeat of his team in the decisive match of the Euro 2024 qualifying cycle against Ukraine.

"It's a huge disappointment for us. We were so close to a major competition: there were only 45 minutes left before the final tournament. I can't find the right words to express my feelings. It's very sad.

Perhaps in the second half we should have tried to clear all questions by going on the attack for the second goal. But it wouldn't have been easy, of course. What is your consolation? Well, we have young players in the team, so hopefully we will still have a chance to go to a major tournament in the future," Haraldsson is quoted by UEFA's official website.
