Ruslan Rotan: "The main task is to hear clear answers from the clubs on the release of players for the Olympic Games"

The head coach of the Ukrainian Olympic team Ruslan Rotan called the 0-2 defeat in a friendly match with the U-23 team of Japan just the beginning of the work.

- We had a very useful sparring match against a strong opponent. We are very grateful to the Japanese for their warm welcome and for this game. Of course, we were well aware of what awaited us - a long flight, transfers, expectations, and a change of time zones. Perhaps that's why we actually lasted only a half. In a match against such an opponent, this is not enough. The Japanese national team is a very organised, disciplined and tactically trained team. I consider it one of the favourites for the U-23 Asian Cup.

This was just the beginning of our preparation for the Olympics. Of course, we are disappointed with the result, but this match will benefit us. Today, the main task is to hear clear answers from the clubs about the release of players for the Olympic Games. We will engage in an active dialogue with them," said Rotan.
