Liverpool have rejected the idea of signing Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso, The Times reports.
According to a source, the Merseyside club's bosses rejected the option of inviting Xabi Alonso to the club's head coaching position. Xabi Alonso's representatives informed Liverpool that the Spanish specialist will stay in Leverkusen for another season. Thus, the Reds turned their attention to other shortlisted specialists. Currently, the main candidates for the Liverpool coaching position are Roberto De Zerbi from Brighton and Ruben Amorim from Sporting.
It should be added that Bayer Leverkusen under the leadership of Xabi Alonso has not lost a game this season. After 26 rounds of the German league, Bayer Leverkusen has 70 points, with Xabi Alonso's men 10 points ahead of second-placed Bayern Munich.
