Xabi Alonso: "I'm staying at Bayer. This is the perfect place for me"

Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso has announced that he will continue to work for the Leverkusen club.

"There was a lot of speculation about my future. I wanted to use the break for the national teams to think about it and make a final decision. Last week, I had a very good meeting with the Bayer management and informed them of my decision to continue as head coach.

This is the perfect place for me to develop as a coach. The fans have shown great support this year. They have every reason to believe and dream that we can have a great season. The players have given me many reasons to believe in the team. My job here is not finished, so I want to take the club to another level," said Alonso during today's press conference, which was dedicated to the upcoming German championship match against Hoffenheim.
