'I'm called a Russian whore': former Polish national team player complains of harassment

Former Polish national team defender Maciej Rybus has been playing in the Russian championship for a long time. Even the outbreak of a full-scale war against Ukraine did not change the footballer's intentions to link his life with the aggressor country.

In Poland, Maciej Rybus's position was perceived very negatively. The experienced footballer was even excluded from the national team ahead of the 2022 World Cup. However, Rybus did not change his mind. During an interview with the Polish media, he spoke about the threats he received from his compatriots.

"I received various messages. They wrote that I had sold out and was to be drafted into the Russian army. To go to hell and never return to Poland. That I was a rag, a traitor, a Russian whore.Ithurts," Rybus complained.

However, Rybus has absolutely no regrets about his decision. He has distanced himself from the war and prefers not to know anything about the events in Ukraine. At the Russian club, he is paid a lot of money that he is unlikely to earn anywhere else.

"But when I decided to stay in Russia, I knew what I could expect. In fact, it was in Russia that I became a real man, started a family, earned money and secured my future. It wasthere that I achieved my greatest football successes," Rybus said.

Interestingly, to justify himself, the Pole cited the example of Tymoszczuk, who also chose prosperity and betrayed his homeland.
