Head coach of Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih Yurii Vernydub commented on the 1-1 home draw against Vorskla Poltava in yesterday's match of the 23rd round of the Ukrainian championship.
"We played well, we only needed to score at 1-1, but we didn't. We drew the game. In my opinion, we lost two points rather than gaining one. This is football, you have to keep your head up and move on. We have two tough away games ahead: Lviv and Odesa. We have to go to Lviv and get three points.
Today I did not see a single player who dropped out of the game. Everyone really wanted to play and win. We scored the first goal, but then we conceded so unfortunately... We lost the ball in the centre of the pitch. In this episode, we didn't play the way we should have. And it should have been easier. We missed a counterattack. Although I warned that Vorskla is good at counterattacks, which they proved. But, at the same time, I didn't see any more chances at our goal in the first half.
We sat in the opponent's half for both halves. After the break, Vorskla played with five defenders, and, to be honest, I don't remember them doing that. All behind the ball line. They had a specific task: to withstand and not concede, which they achieved. And we didn't score... Although there were some great moments," Vernydub's words were quoted by Kryvbas' official website.
