"Beşiktaş has announced the dismissal of Portuguese specialist Fernando Santos as head coach.
"We have terminated our cooperation with Fernando Santos. We would like to thank the coach for his work and wish him success in his future career," reads a statement on the official Twitter page of Beşiktaş.
Earlier, it was reported that Lucescu had already agreed on the details of a personal agreement with the Turkish giant.
Lucescu coached Besiktas from July 2002 to May 2004. He could also lead this team in the winter, but he did not accept the offer because he did not want to start working in the middle of the season, and the Turks opted for Fernando Santos.
