"Everton again threatened with points deduction

"Everton, which is suffering from fines due to financial fair play violations this season, may face new ones.

The Toffees' management is currently in a dispute with the Premier League over the status of certain costs associated with the construction of their new Bramley Moor Dock stadium.

The British newspaper suggests that any points deduction related to the stadium costs will not take place until next season. Sean Dyche's team exceeded the permissible threshold of losses for the three-year period before the 2022/2023 season by £16.6 million, for which they were stripped of two points on Monday (8 April). However, the club insists that £6.5m of this amount should not be attributed to the FFP, as it should be supported by an audit of the stadium's accounts rather than recorded as a loss. A hearing on this issue is expected and the newspaper's journalists believe that this could lead to further sanctions against the struggling Merseysiders.

It is worth reminding that Everton were twice deducted points for FFP violations during the season, where the club lost a total of 8 points. "The Toffees are close to the relegation zone, in 16th position. It is worth noting that since the inception of the Premier League, Everton has never been relegated from this division.
