Sports doctor predicts Bezus' return to the field not earlier than in 10 months

As previously reported, Ukrainian midfielder of Omonia Cyprus Roman Bezus has suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon and is now out of action for a long time. According to sports doctor Dmytro Babelyuk, the footballer will be able to return to the field not earlier than in 10 months (then Bezus, by the way, will be already 34 years old).

Roman Bezus

"Today Omonia, as well as Roman himself, confirmed the diagnosis of a complete rupture of the Achilles tendon in the Ukrainian. The risk of this injury increases significantly at the age of 28-35 (Roman is 33).

As for the symptoms, the players always describe the sensation of being "hit from behind", turning around looking for the offender, and when they testify that there is no one, everything becomes clear to them. As a rule, the rupture occurs without contact, at the moment of tension and stretching of the calf muscle, that is, at the moment of running, turning or jumping.

To quickly verify the diagnosis, the Thompson test is performed - compressing the calf muscle and checking the movement of the foot. If the foot does not move during this test, the test is positive and the Achilles is damaged.

The golden method of treatment is surgical intervention to stitch the tendon. On the example of Ukrainian athletes (the same Yarmolenko) recovery from such an injury lasts at least 10 months.

Health to Roma!", - wrote Babelyuk in his Telegram channel.
