Sports doctor Dmytro Babelyuk, known for his work in Lviv "Rukh", spoke about the nature of the injury of the Ukrainian defender of English "Everton" Vitaliy Mykolenko, which he received in yesterday's derby with Liverpool.
"Vitaliy Mykolenko injured his ankle. In the derby against Liverpool, the Ukrainian landed unsuccessfully on the lawn in the fight against Darwin.
As we can see in the video, the reason for the ankle tuck was that the heel of his left foot stepped on Darwin's foot, changing the angle of support, which caused the joint to twist.
The end result is a typical ankle tuck with damage to the lateral ligament group. As a rule, they are torn in such an injury.
The fact that Vitaly was able to play the half, although limping, gives hope that it is not so serious.
Nevertheless, there is definitely ligament damage, the question is how serious it is. Recovery from such an injury can take from 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the complexity of the tear.
The best scenario for Vitali is to sprain the ligament and miss a little more than a week, then return to the field with a tightly taped "galik".
We should expect official information from the club," Babelyuk wrote in his Telegram channel.
