New details of the negotiations between Real Madrid and Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin on a new deal have been revealed.
According to El Nacional, Lunin is happy with his life in Madrid, but understands that he will once again have to be only the team's second goalkeeper after Thibaut Courtois returns. The Ukrainian asked his club to significantly increase his salary - almost to Courtois' level - as he is having a great season with the Galacticos.
However, Real Madrid's management does not want to pay Lunin the same amount as Courtois, because, in their opinion, it is too much for a backup goalkeeper. Nevertheless, Madrid are not in a favourable situation, as other clubs interested in the Ukrainian - Manchester United, Bayern Munich and PSG - are ready to pay the goalkeeper much more than he receives in Spain.
In addition, if Real Madrid fails to agree on a new deal with Lunin and he leaves the club, the Galacticos will also have to look for a replacement for him, as Chelsea's Kepa Arrizabalaga will return to London at the end of the season.
Lunin has already played in 28 matches for Real Madrid this season.
