Dmytro Mykhailenko: "The mini-training camp was useful not only for coaches but also for players"

Preparing for the final part of Euro 2024 U-19, the Ukrainian national team played a sparring match with Dinaz (0:0). After the match, the head coach of the Blue and Yellows Dmytro Mykhailenko summed up the results of this mini-training camp.

- "First of all, it was a selection training camp where we wanted to see players born in 2005 and 2006. It was useful not only for the coaching staff but also for the players themselves. We needed to see if we could strengthen the squad that played in the elite round, as competition is good for everyone. Some of the players had already made their debuts in the Ukrainian Premier League. We also saw our reserve team, which will soon begin preparations for the Euro 2025 U-19 qualifying round.

As for the match against Dinaz, it was difficult to demand any kind of understanding from the players. First of all, we focused the boys' attention on reliable defensive play, and also asked them not to be afraid to take the initiative and take responsibility in attacking actions.

As a result, our coaching staff was satisfied with what they saw on the pitch. Yes, there were moments that need to be addressed in the future, but, again, all this was very useful in the context of preparing for the final part of the European Championship," said Dmytro Mykhailenko.
