Igor Perduta: "In the final against Shakhtar, we will try to prove that the cup tournament has its own laws"

On 15 May, Rivne will host the Ukrainian Cup final between Vorskla and Shakhtar. The Poltava team arrived in Rivne last night, and team captain Ihor Perduta shared his expectations of tomorrow's battle for the honourable prize in a conversation with a Sport.ua correspondent.

Igor Perduta

- We arrived in a fighting line-up, with Volodymyr Chesnakov, who hasn't played for a long time, in the squad. Today we have a pre-game training session, and I hope we will approach the match in the right playing conditions.

- In the UPL championship, Vorskla has suffered 5 defeats in a row. Will this series of failures affect the psychological state of the Poltava players?

- I don't think so. Firstly, these are different tournaments. Secondly, I do not believe that these recent defeats were in the game. Yes, there were some unfortunate mistakes, and the opponents were lucky in some places, but I hope that after the analysis we have made the right conclusions.

- Needless to say, Shakhtar will be the favourite in the final, having won another championship a few days ago?

- There is no point in discussing this topic. We will just try to prove that the cup tournament has its own rules.

We would like to remind you that on Wednesday, 15 May, the final match of the Ukrainian Football Cup will take place between Vorskla Poltava and Shakhtar Donetsk.
