Former Volyn forward Vasyl Sachko shared his expectations ahead of the Ukrainian Cup final.
"There are always surprises in the final, but Shakhtar are definitely the favourites, they are on a roll and have deservedly won the championship. My winning goal in 2009? The memories are really vivid. Such moments are quite rare in life, it's hard to forget them.
We are in constant contact with the 2009 Vorskla players, we communicate and recall that time. Back then, Shakhtar was not just the Ukrainian champion, but also the UEFA Cup winner, a very powerful opponent. We also had a challenging team, thanks to the club's management, who set the appropriate tasks, and the coaching staff of Nikolay Pavlov. I remember the times when we set up, prepared for the match and generally had a great season. We had a great team, not only on the pitch but also off the pitch, with quality legionnaires who became our family.
"Shakhtar were favourites even then, but thanks to the plan of our coaching staff, which worked, we played the match with responsibility and concentration and waited for our moment to score the winning goal. Let's just say that Shakhtar pressed, and we endured. We won this trophy for the whole of Poltava. The memories are incredible. I don't like to make predictions. I understand that it will be very difficult for Vorskla, they will play defensively, Shakhtar will dominate the first leg and try to score a quick goal. It's still difficult to predict the final because there is room for sensations in the cup," Sachko said.
