Dutch fourth division referee Jan Smith has been banned for life after he was seen celebrating the championship with the winning team, St George.

Ian Smith

According to local media reports cited by the Sport Arena telegram channel, the 61-year-old referee was officiating the game between St George and SV De Valken on Sunday.

During the game, St George goalkeeper Dave Lean scored the championship winning goal in stoppage time. It seems that the 15 minutes of added time and the fact that the referee sent off 3 SV De Valken players beforehand helped.

As a result, the Royal Football Federation banned Smith from refereeing for life.
