Rukh Lviv head coach Vitaliy Ponomaryov talks about his team's match against Dynamo Kyiv in the final round of the Ukrainian league to be played this Saturday in the capital of Galicia.
"We have to go out and play against Dynamo the way we have been playing throughout the championship. We will see the result of the match and how it will develop after the final whistle. "Rukh will not be specially tuning up for this game, because the guys know what kind of football they have to show.
The guys see the standings themselves and realise that they can get into the European competitions. They set themselves the highest goals and want to achieve them. These are new feelings for them and they still need to get used to these challenges. But this shouldn't affect their performance, because on the pitch they must demonstrate the football that Rukh promotes. I always ask the players to ignore this pressure and play their usual game. This team is currently in the process of formation and I am grateful to the guys for the work they have done.
We are not changing our strategy and we are grateful to the club's founder and management for being able to stick to it. I would like to thank them for not putting additional pressure on the guys and letting all club processes develop gradually. Our task is to build a competitive team and fight for victory in every game.
Of course, we also want to be as high as possible in the standings. If Rukh can get into the European competitions, we will be only too happy. If we analyse our squad, we have five players who made their UPL debut only this season and are showing a good game. We are currently satisfied with the way the team and our players are developing and the results they are showing," Ponomaryov was quoted as saying by Rukh's official website.
As a reminder, Rukh (49 points) is currently fighting with Dnipro-1 (49) and Polissia (47) for fourth place in the standings, which gives them the right to play in the Conference League next season.
