It's official. Thiago Motta has left Bologna

Italian football club Bologna has officially announced the departure of head coach Thiago Motta, the club's press service reports.

"This morning Thiago Motta informed the club of his intention not to renew his contract with Bologna. Having taken the decision into account, the club thanks the coach for the outstanding work he has done and wishes him success in his future career," Bologna said in a statement.

"In these two years, I have met a prepared and winning coach who has given the team a brilliant playing personality. The achievement of reaching the Champions League sets him and all the players in the history of our club apart. I would like him to stay at Bologna, but I can only thank him and the team for these great seasons and wish him all the best for the future," said club president Joey Saputo.

Earlier it was reported that Thiago Motta is close to taking over the helm of Juventus Turin.
