Renowned Ukrainian journalist Mykola Nesenyuk dedicated a post on Facebook to the anniversary of Shakhtar Donetsk's UEFA Cup victory.
These days, Shakhtar celebrates the fifteenth anniversary of its first and last European triumph to date - winning the UEFA Cup in 2009. This is the only European Cup won by a Ukrainian team since independence.
Dynamo Kyiv's European trophies were won back in the Soviet era, so Dynamo fans can only remember the players who did it - Blokhin, Belanov, Buriak, Zavarov, Kolotov, Yakovenko, Muntyan... These names have long belonged to our history - the players, along with their partners, will remain in this history forever.
Shakhtar fans can also be proud of their 2009 winners and recall their names - Judson, Fernandinho, Willian, Adriano, Ilsinho... There is someone to remember, someone to be proud of and someone to look up to!
