Former Dynamo Kyiv forward Viktor Leonenko told us what he thinks about the behaviour of Lviv Karpaty head coach Myron Markevych and his son and assistant Ostap Markevych, who did not join the corridor of honour after the final match of the First League against Ingulets (1-2) and did not accept silver medals (if not for this defeat, Lviv would have won the tournament).
"I don't know why Markevych refused to accept a medal, he won silver only once in his life with Metalist, and he was third all his life. I don't understand why people don't want to receive silver medals. Maybe they are offended. We have a lot of people who are offended.
But why be offended? "Ingulets played at home, and they are definitely not weaker than Karpaty. Markevych must have developed a case of starstruckness, he decided that he didn't need silver, he only deserved gold.
The Markevichs were disrespectful. Then why do they make these medals at all if they don't take them? I think the UAF should be fined for this," Leonenko said.
