Former Ukraine defender Artem Fedetskyi commented on the fact that next season, due to the increase in the number of matches, the group tournaments of European Cups will be extended in time: in particular, the 7th and 8th rounds of the Champions League and the Europa League will take place in January 2025.
- As for the January European Cup matches, this is a significant problem for Ukraine. Our teams will have to completely break the winter training system. We used to finish competitions in late November or early December and go on holiday until the first half of January. Now this will not happen, we have to shift and shorten the holidays, because it is not an option to train constantly and keep the players in shape.
The second problem is the climate. What kind of pitches do we have in January? They have to be heated all winter, and that's a lot of money. We won't be able to train on grass in winter either, we'll have to take the teams abroad. And in this time of war, it's not easy. So for us, the new format of the European Cups is a big challenge. But nothing can be done, we have to get used to the way the rest of Europe plays," the expert said.
