Former midfielder and captain of Dynamo Kyiv Serhiy Sydorchuk, who now plays for Belgian side Westerlo, has spoken out about the end of the club season.
"The football seasons in both Ukraine and Belgium are over. In this regard, I would like to talk about the atmosphere at the matches. During my career, I have played in different conditions - there were full stadiums, only a few hundred fans, and empty stands.
In Westerlo, as in the rest of Belgium, football is not just a game. It's a small family holiday that starts long before the match starts, with a fan zone and various activities for children. The @kvcwesterlo fan sector is about support no matter what the outcome. They are with the team to the last, at home and away. To thank them after the game is to show respect and pay tribute to their support.
Regarding Ukraine, I would say that the return of the fans to the stands was a good decision, in my opinion. This support is very important for everyone.
The players play differently, and the fans get the emotions they need. All the military people I talk to talk about this. When I last visited the hospital, the guys said: "For us, this is the only opportunity to see a normal life and come back. This is why we are fighting". It was worth it for them alone," Serhiy wrote on Instagram.
