Head coach of Cherkasy LNZ Oleg Dulub, summarising the results of the season for his team, highlighted its match with Dynamo Kyiv (1:1) in the 23rd round of the Ukrainian championship.
- At the beginning of the spring part of the season, after the match with Kryvbas, in which we lost 0:3, we had a conversation with the club managers. I explained to them that if we gather the team a week before the resumption of the championship, none of the players have the baggage of pre-competition work. That is, they spent all this work wherever they were - some in clubs, others on holiday, others somewhere else. There was nothing that could bring the team to a common denominator.
At that time I was asked a question head-on: how long do we have to wait? I answered: if we are lucky, this period will be shorter, if not, at least twelve weeks.
The starting point for LNZ this year was the eighth week, when we played a match against Dynamo Kyiv. That means we were 30 per cent ahead of schedule. In the game with Dynamo, which ended in a draw, I abstract from the result, because at first we were lucky, and in the end - the Kyiv team. We could win or lose this game. But it was the data that we received on GPS - on the run, speed work, volume, etc. allowed us to notice that the team had already made the first step and switched to other modes of work.
Even then I told the coaching staff about it. Although Oleksandr Granovskiy objected to me: how can you say that - this is Dynamo Kyiv, where everyone plays! I answered him: no, I see how the quality of the game changes and how all this is reflected in the actions of players on the pitch. They even move differently! The only nuance in this period was the defeat against Shakhtar, which was the result of mistakes. And because of the same mistakes we lost to Obolon," Dulub said.
