Viktor Leonenko: "The Premier League is too strong a name for our championship"

Former Dynamo striker Viktor Leonenko commented on the statement by Karpaty head coach Myron Markevych.

- Viktor Yevhenovych, have you changed your opinion of Myron Bohdanovych after his statement?

- Yes, I have. I read Bogdanovich's response, and I can say: I'm glad I'm not a coach. As I understood it, the man felt bad, so I apologise to Bogdanovich. He just needed to be told about it right away so that there were no questions. I wish him good health, because I know how hard it is to be a coach. Although, they choose this path themselves.

- What do you expect from Karpaty in the UPL?

- I expect quality from any team, not suffering. Before the season, everyone sees themselves in the top six, and then they suffer in the Premier League, although the Premier League is too strong a name for our championship. I don't want to offend anyone, but in reality, this is the first or second league. In our country, to watch football, you have to hire a detective to find broadcasts.

I wish good luck to any team that enters the UPL, but as a rule, presidents lose money right away. The only exception is Butkevych. He wants to turn Polissia "Shakhtar. Dynamo will have the same squad and second place again. With these people, it will never be possible to take first place, let alone European competitions. Although I am rooting for Dynamo, otherwise they will think I am rooting for Shakhtar again.

I support quality and football, and you can see how Dynamo plays. And in the European Cups, everyone will suffer, including Shakhtar. Returning to our topic, I wish Karpaty not to suffer in the UPL, but to be like Polissya. I thought that the Zhytomyr club would be in the top ten, but they are in the top six.
