Former Dynamo midfielder and well-known Ukrainian coach Volodymyr Sharan told us what changes he expects to see in the Ukrainian national team's game compared to the last match and explained why the confrontation against the Poles will be effective.
- The match against Germany was a tough one. Our players left a lot of energy on the field. What lineup do you expect to see in the match against Poland?
- I expect not only a different lineup, but the structure of the game will definitely change. I am sure of it, we will not play 5-4-1 in defense, but will play 4-3-3. There will definitely be changes to review the players that Serhiy Stanislavovych plans to involve in the European Championship. He needs to decide on the final squad. For this purpose, we need such matches.
- In the match against Ukraine and Germany, we saw no goals at all. What kind of football do you expect to see against our western neighbors?
- I think the football will be productive. Against a strong opponent, you always try to keep your goal dry. But against an equal strength opponent, we will see different football. This is not Germany, this is a team of our level. We understand that Germany is one of the favorites for the European Championship. That's why they used such a tactic, and I'm sure that against Belgium we will also play with three central defenders. We need to play more attacking. I think that in this match we will see goals scored and more interesting football in the attack.
- If, in your opinion, we will play against Belgium like we did against Germany, can we say that against Poland we will try to play like we did at the Euros against Romania and Slovakia?
- Of course, I think so. Why do I compare these teams like that? Because I watched Romania, I can't say that it is stronger than the Ukrainian national team. If we play a different style of football, the coaching staff will want to play it against the Polish national team.
