"It depends on how I feel, what physical condition I'm in. It's important to be realistic and know if I'm in the right condition to compete and help my teammates," Messi was quoted as saying by Infobae.

It should be added that by the time the World Cup starts, Messi will be 39 years old. He has already become the fourth player in history to play in five World Cups and score ten goals. The 2026 World Cup could potentially become his sixth career tournament.
