News from the camp of Ukraine's Euro 2024 group rival. The main defender of the national team of Belgium Thomas Meunier was injured in yesterday's friendly match with Luxembourg(3:0) and, apparently, for a long time out of action.
The 32-year-old player had to leave the field as early as the 16th minute of the match. Judging by the gesticulation of Meunier, we are talking about a muscle injury of the back of the thigh.
After the end of the match, Belgium head coach Domenico Tedesco made it clear that the injury suffered by Meunier is quite serious.
"The main conclusion from this match is that we lost Meunier. He will have an MRI on Sunday morning, but even without that things are looking unpleasant. That's why we're disappointed. We still have hope, but I'm not optimistic. Meunier will probably miss a few days or weeks," Tedesco said.
The situation for the Belgian national team is complicated by the fact that still continues to recover from injury another of its main defender - Arthur Theate, who is also included in the application of his national team for Euro-2024.
