Ex-head coach of Zhytomyr "Polesya" Sergey Shishchenko commented on the performance of the team under his leadership in the spring part of the championship of Ukraine season-2023/24.

"If we take the last eight rounds, which were after the unfortunate losses to Obolon and Chornomorets, then in terms of total points we were behind only Shakhtar and Dynamo. "Polesie" had a strong end of the championship, which had some tough matches. These are, first of all, the games with Kolos and Vorskla, which were rather "draw" in their scenario, but we won them with the same score 1:0.

However, each match was difficult in its own way: the opponents are different, the players are different, tactical schemes are also different. Therefore, I am glad that in almost all the games in the mentioned period my charges looked decent.

Except for the meeting with Dynamo Kyiv, which I consider, perhaps, the most unsuccessful game under my leadership. Even with the same Chornomorets it was not the same as in Kyiv. By many criteria. It was certainly my coaching mistake. Somewhere, perhaps, I did not prepare the guys tactically as I would like. I am sure, if we had played differently with Dynamo, the result would not have been a loss.
