Head coach of the Romanian national team Edward Iordanescu during the regulatory press conference told what he expects from the match of his team against Ukraine in the 1st round of the group stage of Euro 2024, which will be held tomorrow in Munich.
"I want to see the best version of the Romanian national team. I wish each of us to be confident in the first game, convinced that we can do it and also ready to give our best on the pitch to represent Romania the way it should be represented.
This is what we wanted - to be at the Euros. We have created this opportunity and we are ready to give our best. We want to stay here as long as possible, so we will fight for our chance. I promise the fans, and I say this very sincerely: this team will give their best on the pitch.
We have only a few minor problems with physical preparation. We hope that by match day all the guys will be fine. We still have a few players who have not fully recovered, but we have solutions.
As for the match against Ukraine, we are ready for all scenarios. We want to find solutions while staying true to our identity. We have to show only the maximum of our abilities in certain moments, otherwise it will be very difficult. After all, the Ukrainian national team has players who play in the championship of England and other top leagues. If you constantly play in European club tournaments, you have a certain value.
We respect the Ukraine national team. Their coach has achieved incredible results, but when it comes to the start of the match, many things don't matter anymore. Our nervousness is part of what happens in this tournament. We have to channel it, turn it into positive energy. We have to be smart and confident. We are in the final tournament, so we have nothing to be afraid of," UEFA's official website quoted Iordanescu as saying.
