Romania head coach Edward Iordanescu spoke about the main advantage of his team's opponent in the opening match of Euro 2024 - the national team of Ukraine.
"From a sporting point of view I can say that the Ukraine national team has a kind of main advantage - it is experience. Because this team is participating in the final part of the European Championship for the fourth time in a row. At the same time, it is also a quarterfinalist of the previous Euro. And that means confidence.
In the base lineup of the Ukrainian national team there are 15-16 players who already have experience of playing at the European Championship. They are used to this level, to such high stakes in every sense, because in clubs these players fight for trophies year after year.
All this gives the Ukrainian national team an advantage over us, gives it more balance, more confidence. But we tried to prepare morally as best as possible for this moment and, believe me, we also have our own strengths that can compensate for the difference in experience," Iordanescu said during yesterday's pre-match press conference.
