The legendary center back Pepe will not play for Porto next season, as officially announced by the club's new president Andre Villas-Boas.
"Regarding the extension of Pepe's contract as a Porto player, this will not happen. The reasons why this, unfortunately, cannot happen have been well explained to him. We have great respect for his career," Villas-Boas was quoted as saying by A Bola.
It is worth noting that Pepe returned to Porto in January 2019 after a successful decade at Real Madrid and a season and a half at Besiktas. In total, Pepe played 288 matches for the Dragons and scored 17 goals.
