The UEFA press office has given its verdict on the results of the Euro 2024 match between Romania and Ukraine.
"It was a great day for Romania. The team talked about wanting to make their fans proud and today they did it.
A shocking start for a team that many thought was the clear favorite for this match and one of the potential surprises of the entire tournament. While opinions may differ, the reasons for Ukraine's failure are unlikely to include the quality of the players or tactics. They failed to cope with the pressure and excitement and must respond to this in the second game," reads a statement on UEFA's official website.
