Famous Ukrainian journalist Igor Linnik shared his opinion on the performance of the Ukrainian national team at Euro-2024.
"The assessment of the Ukrainian national team's performance at Euro 2024 by our soccer community, and first of all by the national federation, will be the answer to the question - what will happen to our soccer in the future.
If the assessment will be unflattering and without extenuating circumstances (which does not mean the need to change the coaching staff!) - then there is a chance to stop its further provincialization.
If everyone agrees that in principle nothing terrible has happened - then nothing will happen....
But, if we take a big picture, the most important thing is what conclusions from this Euro will be made by Shevchenko-Rebrov tandem and those who are also part of their trusted circle.
In my opinion, first of all, it is these people, having the necessary competencies, have the most complete information at the moment about
- what the objectives were for this tournament,
- how the team prepared for it,
- what problems the team faced before the start of the tournament,
- what problems they faced as the tournament progressed,
- at the expense of what and how successfully these problems were solved,
- what factors were objective,
- what factors were subjective,
- how successful was the management of the functional state of the team,
- how successful was the management of the medical and pharmacological state of the team,
- how successful was the management of the psychological state of the team, etc., etc., etc.
For example, the most innocuous of questions for this kind of self-analysis is why all the leaders of the Ukraine national team (except Zabarny) approached Euro-2024 with a noticeable and very noticeable decline in playing form?
It is obvious that the conclusions that will be made after Euro-2024 should not be intended for the media and the general public. But Shevchenko and Rebrov themselves must know the exact answers to all these questions in order to understand and adjust the scope of their tasks at a new stage of work - in preparation for the World Cup-2026.
We will be able to learn about the conclusions made by indirect signs - by what, where and how to go further.
P.S....the experience of Ukraine's national team performance at the final tournaments of the World Cup-2006, Euro-2012, Euro-2016, Euro-2020, and now Euro-2024, as well as youth World Cup-2001, World Cup-2005, World Cup-2006, World Cup-2011, World Cup-2015, World Cup-2019 and World Cup-2023 is somehow and by whom systematized and properly investigated?
Somewhere in the archives of FFU/UAF there are detailed reports of the coaching staffs of all these teams on the work done then and there?...", - wrote Linnyk on his page in the social network Facebook.
