Belgium head coach Domenico Tedesco at the pre-match press conference on the eve of the Euro 2024 1/8 finals duel with France had, among other things, to answer the question about the criticism of his team for the match with Ukraine (0:0) in the 3rd round of the group stage of the tournament.
"I don't want to complain emotionally about this criticism. We got out of the group, and this fact alone should solve all the problems with the fans. Yes, they always have the right to express their disappointment with this or that match or result, but the national team of Ukraine is not an easy team, everyone has seen it. So the issue is closed.
All the negativity comes from the outside, but the atmosphere inside the team is great. It was like this even after the defeat against Slovakia in the opening match of the Euro. So now all our thoughts are about the match with France.
For the first time in this tournament we are not the favorites. I don't know whether it's good or not. In the end, it's not that important for me. We just want to make it to the quarterfinals. The main thing is not to get nervous and fulfill the game plan, which we already have, but I won't voice it. Moreover, no matter how good the plan is, it still needs to be realized on the field," Tedesco said.
