Dynamo U-19 midfielder Andriy Matkevych gave a comment to the club's press. The midfielder spoke about his offseason, preparing for new challenges, and also shared his expectations for Euro 2024 for the Ukrainian U-19 national team.
- How is the process of preparing for the new season going? What are you focusing on?
- We are currently focusing on physical training, and then we will work on tactical and technical aspects. Everyone returned from vacation in good physical condition.
- How did you rest during your vacation?
- I had a mostly active vacation. We had a vacation with my girlfriend in Karpaty. I worked, fulfilled the entire program that was sent to us.
- In preparation for the UEFA Youth League, Dynamo U19 will travel to the Czech Republic for a tournament. How important is the preparatory tour for the team?
- It is very important to have experience of playing against European teams. I think this is a very useful tournament for us.
- The team is already working in the mode of two training sessions a day. How pleasant or unpleasant is this period?
- It's different for everyone. It depends on what kind of training. Now it's more physical. Of course, such training is not very pleasant, everyone likes to work with the ball more.
- You received a call-up to the U-19 national team, with Euro 2024 ahead. Are you happy to be noticed and invited to the national team?
- Of course, I am. I want to continue to progress, not stop at the U-19, do everything gradually. I need to perform well for the national team and represent Dynamo Kyiv with dignity.
- How would you rate the past season for yourself and the team? What are your goals for the new season?
- I can't evaluate myself. There were a lot of injuries, the season was hard. Of course, the season was successful for the team, because we became champions and beat Shakhtar twice. I want to win gold again this season, to confirm that we are the best U-19 team.
