There is a conflict in Slovakian soccer. Head coach of the Slovak national team Francesco Calzona, summarizing the team's performance at Euro 2024, gave a whole speech to the former goalkeeper of the Slovak national team Jan Mucha, accusing him of showing hostility. The ex-goalkeeper did not hesitate to respond.
"I have no idea what such a violent reaction of Calzona is connected with. I explain it by the fact that he became a head coach for the first time and does not know how to take criticism in his address. Yes, I and many others criticized him at some points, but it was fair. It was constructive criticism. Calzona should thank us for it, without this criticism he would not have led the Slovak national team to Euro 2024.
I was invited to the studio to give my opinion on Slovakia's performance at Euro 2024. I congratulated the coach and his team on a job well done, and Calzona responds with this bizarre eight-minute monologue. It's like he's Capello and Guardiola in one person and we're all just clowns.
Slovakia won one match at Euro 2024, and Calzona jumps around like he saved Slovakian soccer. If you can't take criticism, you can't be a coach. Then you'd better find another job.
Again, I am positive about the performance of the Slovak national team at Euro 2024. We now have something to build on. I hope we will see even better results. If only Calzona will concentrate on soccer and not on frog wars. No one is at war with him, only he is at war with himself," SportWeb quoted Mucha as saying.
