Gareth Southgate: "The match against Switzerland is the best game England have played at Euro 2024"

England head coach Gareth Southgate commented on the victory over Switzerland (1:1, 5:3 - on penalties) in the 1/4 finals of Euro 2024.

"This is the best game we played: we created a lot of problems for them, possessing the ball. They are a really good team, it's hard to press them, it's hard to defend against them, they move well. To win again we had to show character and resilience, which we showed. Winning tournaments is not just about playing well, you have to show all the other qualities. I am very, very proud of the players," Southgate was quoted as saying by UEFA's official website.
