It's official. UAF Executive Committee expresses confidence in Serhiy Rebrov

On Wednesday, July 10, the Executive Committee of the Ukrainian Football Association held a meeting at the Football House.

It began with birthday greetings to the members of the Executive Committee Kateryna Monzul, Serhiy Rebrov, Oleksandr Kadenko and Mykola Pavlov. Mykola Pavlov celebrated his 70th birthday, so in accordance with the UAF Statute, the Executive Committee decided to appeal to the UAF Congress with a proposal to grant the legend of national football, Honored Coach of Ukraine Mykola Pavlov the status of an honorary member of the UAF.

Among other issues, the UAF Executive Committee considered the performances of the national teams. After discussing the national team's performances, at the suggestion of UAF President Andriy Shevchenko, Serhiy Rebrov and his coaching staff were given full support. This proposal was supported by all members of the executive committee. In turn, Serhiy Rebrov thanked for the trust and emphasized that he believes in the team's potential.

The Executive Committee also approved the venues for the home matches of the Ukrainian national team in the League of Nations. As previously reported, in September, the Blue and Yellows will host Albania in Prague (the match will take place on September 7). But in October, the Ukrainian national team will play nominally home matches against Georgia (on the 11th) and the Czech Republic (on the 14th) in Poznan and Wroclaw, Poland, respectively.

In addition, the executive committee approved regulations for the next season for the UPL and PFL. The new composition of the UAF Ethics and Fair Play Committee was also approved.

"It was a very important executive committee meeting, because very soon we plan to start national championships among professional men's teams. The relevant regulations were approved, which will be in effect for the next season.

Needless to say, football competitions during the war on the territory of Ukraine are important - they not only testify to our indomitable spirit, but also demonstrate to the whole world our desire for a normal life.

Also during the meeting of the UAF Executive Committee, the results of the Ukrainian national team's performance at Euro 2024 were considered. It was noted that our main team, despite the extremely difficult situation in the country, still made it to the European Championship. At the championship itself, the team did not live up to expectations and did not advance from the group. The main reason was the failure of the first match, in which we lost to Romania. Unfortunately, in the following matches, the situation could not be corrected, although Serhiy Rebrov's team managed to score four points - the highest result for the entire period of the Ukrainian national team's performances in the final Euro tournaments.

I would like to note that the UAF has created all the conditions for the quality preparation of the national team for Euro 2024. But it should be remembered that Serhiy Rebrov took over the national team after the start of the qualifying round. And we also took this into account when evaluating the work of the coaching staff. In general, the UAF Executive Committee supported the direction of development of the national team and expressed full confidence and support for the coaching staff of Serhiy Rebrov.

Now the task of the national team is to prepare for performances in the League of Nations, whose matches will begin in September, and qualification for the 2026 World Cup. Before the start of the national team in the League of Nations, after the Olympic Games, we will analyze its performances, as well as the performances of the two youth and Olympic teams this summer at a meeting of the national teams committee, "commented UAF President Andriy Shevchenko on the results of the executive committee.
