Oleksandr Lipenko's column. Five bright victories of Kyiv Dynamo players

Working on radio and television in the newspapers "Vecherniy Kyiv", "Kievskie vedomosti", "Komanda", "Vse Sport", "Sport-Express in Ukraine", he covered many soccer matches involving Kyiv Dynamo.

These matches were especially memorable. I will name five of them, which, of course, were not seen by the younger generation of fans.

Speed and counterattacks are strong arguments of Lobanovsky's team

PSV (Netherlands, Eindhoven) - Dynamo (Kyiv) - 1:3.

September 17, 1997. Champions League, group round. Eindhoven. Philipps Stadium. 35,000 spectators.

It was the starting meeting of Kyiv team in that tournament. Valeriy Lobanovskiy's wards defeated the team of the famous coach Dick Advocaat.

In the first half, the hosts' goal was scored by Yuriy Maksimov (33). In the second half Serhiy Rebrov (47) and Andriy Shevchenko (90) scored. For the hosts, Wim Jonk (40) distinguished himself.

"We wanted to deprive the Dutch of their trump cards and in turn used their strong qualities - speed and counterattacks. We managed to realize it," Valeriy Lobanovskiy said at the post-match press conference.

The winner was determined by penalties

"Dynamo (Kyiv) vs Shakhtar (Donetsk) - 1:1 (penalty shootout - 5:4).

March 17, 1981. Cup season. Simferopol. Lokomotiv Stadium. 32 000 spectators.

A huge army of spectators at the stadium and TV screens witnessed a tense and fighting cup game.

In the first half the Kyivians scored - Oleksandr Boyko (41). And after the break Sergiy Kravchenko (52) restored the balance. To determine the winner, the teams had to shoot a series of penalties. Dynamo were lucky in this soccer lottery. Anatoliy Konkov converted the decisive 11-metre penalty. The Pitmen's famous striker Vitaliy Starukhin missed. His shot was parried by Yuriy Romensky.

The season cup was won by: Yuriy Romensky, Anatoliy Konkov, Serhiy Baltacha, Andriy Bal, Vladimir Bessonov, Vladimir Lozinsky, Leonid Buriak (Anatoliy Demyanenko), Oleksandr Hapsalis (Vadim Yevtushenko), Oleksandr Boyko (Stepan Yurchyshyn), Oleg Blokhin.

The spectators chased the Kyiv team into attacks

"Dynamo (Kyiv) vs PSG (France) - 3:0.

April 16, 2009. UEFA Cup. Return meeting. 1/8 finals. Kiev. Dynamo Stadium. 15,000 spectators.

It is clear that there were dozens of times more people willing to attend this match. However, at that moment the Dynamo arena named after Valeriy Lobanovskiy could accommodate only 15 thousand fans. But from the first seconds of the match they began to actively support their team, which played to a promising 0-0 draw in the first meeting in Paris at the Parc de Prins.

For the hosts, Ismael Bangura (4) and Ognjen Vukojevic (61) distinguished themselves, another goal in their gates was scored by Parisians' goalkeeper Mikael Landro (15).

"The team is grateful to the spectators. The atmosphere at the stadium was great. With such active support, we could not lose," - told reporters at the end of the confrontation, the then mentor of Kievans Yuri Semin.

Authorities did not embarrass the Dynamo players

"Dynamo (Kyiv) vs Manchester City (England) - 2:0.

March 10, 2011. Europa League. 1/16 finals. First match. Kiev. Dynamo Stadium named after Valeriy Lobanovskiy. 15,000 spectators.

The visitors, led by Italian Roberto Mancini, featured a whole constellation of famous players: Ivorian Yaya Toure, Argentine Carlos Tevez, Bosnian Edin Dzeko, Italian Mario Balotelli. But they did not embarrass Dynamo players. Andriy Shevchenko (25) and Oleh Gusev (77) spoiled the mood of the guests.

This result allowed Dynamo to qualify for the 1/8 finals. After all, in Manchester, the "citizens" were able to score only one goal for the "white-blues" - Aleksandar Kolarov (39).

The winner of the Super Cup was again determined by penalties

"Dynamo (Kyiv) vs Shakhtar (Donetsk) - 2:2 (penalty shootout - 4:2).

July 10. 2007. Super Cup of Ukraine. Odessa. Chernomorets stadium. 28 000 spectators.

"For various reasons Dynamo could not field a fighting line-up.

Shakhtar striker Oleksandr Gladkiy (14) opened the scoring. Then two accurate strikes by Taras Mykhalik (26, 30) put the capital team ahead - 2:1. But the opponents restored the balance - Serhiy Tkachenko (55).

The penalty shootout was successful for Anatoliy Demyanenko's wards.

Dynamo's Oleksandr Rybka, Marjan Markovic, Goran Havranchych, Vitaliy Mandzyuk, Vitaliy Fedoriv, Denys Dedechko, Taras Mihalik, Mykola Moroziuk, Oleksandr Aliev, Denys Oliinyk (Milos Ninkovic, 56), Volodymyr Lysenko (Andriy Voronkov, 78) did their job. And the Super Cup went to Kyiv.

I remembered other matches - not only victorious, but also defeats and draws. But we will talk about them next time.
