Dynamo President Ihor Surkis shared his impressions of the 6-2 victory over Serbian Partizan in the first match of the 2nd qualifying round of the Champions League.
Ihor Surkis- Igor Mikhailovich, a confident victory in the first match. Did you expect this?
- I expected the team to come out and fight. We were very concerned about how it would happen. You know that Partizan traveled to Russia, and Russia is not just killing our citizens, but killing our children and women. So this victory was very important. I can say that it was the most important in recent years. We gave joy to our fans, to those who defend our homeland and our families. Glory to Ukraine!
I am very pleased, I congratulated the guys. I am very grateful to the fans who came to the stadium, and I am also grateful to the President of Ukraine, who gives us the opportunity to represent the country on the international stage in Europe. We were very well received in Poland, you saw how the fans supported us. So there could have been no football without the support of the country's leadership. We will continue to try to play as well as possible and move up the tournament grid.
- Dynamo conceded the first goal, but then the goals came in a different flavor. Although it was the first game of the season, we saw a real spectacle.
- You saw for yourself, we have the depth of the squad, and all the guys understand the game model that Oleksandr Shovkovskyi offers. Those who came on the field added to the game. The unfortunate goal we conceded at the beginning - it happens, it's football. But the guys coped with it, and despite conceding the second optional goal, they were able to secure a score that will allow us to go to Belgrade more or less calmly. But we can't relax and have to fully prepare for the next game.
- Pikhalenok made his debut in an official match, scored immediately, and generally strengthened the game...
- Pikhalonok is a creative, he can do everything on the football field. He can pass, he can score, he can take the ball away.
I would like to congratulate them once again on this important victory. "Partizan made us very angry, and we won for all our soldiers, women, and Ukrainian families. Many Ukrainians came today and supported us from the first to the last minute.
- The fans supported the team fiercely throughout the match. Did you feel a balance between the spectators and the players?
- We have not been supported like this for four years, as we played without spectators. And today was an incredible atmosphere.
