Vladyslav Vanat: "We realized we had the advantage, but the motivation at Partizan was overwhelming"

Dynamo Kyiv forward Vladyslav Vanat, who converted a penalty kick and contributed to his team's 3-0 victory over Partizan in yesterday's Champions League second qualifying round match, shared his impressions of the match.

Vladislav Vanat

- Vladyslav, congratulations on your victory. What are your emotions after overcoming the second round of the Champions League qualifiers?

- The emotions are very positive, but I don't even have the strength to characterize them. We are pleased to have moved on, to have won both matches confidently, and against an opponent who was extremely motivated.

- In general, after the result of the first match, was it easy to tune in to the return match?

- Not that easy. We realized that we had a four-goal advantage, but it didn't matter, because we had to come out and drive this team farther away.

- In the penalty shootout, did you decide with Yarmolenko who would take the kick, or did you know for sure that you would take the 11-meter spot kick yourself?

- I asked Buyalsky and Yarmolenko if I could take the shot. They allowed it, so I thank them for that. Football is a team game, and they acted like a team, letting me score, so I'm grateful to them.

- In general, did you discuss among yourselves that this victory is extremely important for Ukraine?

- Of course, everyone reads the news, and what happened during these two games, the tension on social media and the Internet, everyone understood everything. So it's good that we managed to win, especially so confidently.

- Now Rangers are ahead. Have you already watched the upcoming opponent or did you not have such thoughts before the return match against Partizan?

- No, I haven't, I was waiting for the second match against Partizan to finalize our progress to the next round. Tomorrow we will start preparing for Rangers.

- In general, how would you assess the level of preparation for the new season? Based on the matches played against Partizan, do you feel that the team is in its best shape?

- I think the preparations are still ongoing, the championship hasn't even started yet. Everyone is preparing, trying to give their best. It is clear that it is difficult in the first games, but we will keep improving. Moreover, there is still room for improvement.

- How did the team support Maksym Dyachuk, who was seriously injured?

- He was not in the locker room. I understand that he went to the hospital. Of course, even when he was getting into the car on the field, everyone told him not to be disappointed and to hold on. We wish him only health.
