Dovbik gave up 1.5 million euros for a move to Roma

Italian "Roma" is preparing to officially announce the acquisition of Ukrainian striker of Spanish "Girona" Artem Dovbik. On the eve of the clubs signed a corresponding deal, and the 27-year-old footballer yesterday arrived in Rome to undergo a medical examination and sign a contract with his new club. Meanwhile, an interesting nuance of this transfer became known.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Dovbik so wanted to move to Roma that, in fact, laid out of his pocket 1.5 million euros. According to the publication, the striker had a written agreement with Girona, according to which in case of his resale he was to receive from the club the specified amount.

But in the course of negotiations on the transition to Roma, Dovbik decided to refuse this money. This is what allowed Roma to agree with Girona on the transfer of the Ukrainian for 38.5 million euros, not 40 million euros, as demanded by the Spanish club and as it was fixed in the form of the amount of payoffs in Dovbik's contract with the club.
