After yesterday's replay of the Conference Football League qualifying match between Polissia and Slovenian Olympia (1-2), representatives of the Zhytomyr club had complaints about the Serbian refereeing team. For Sport.ua, Myroslav Stupar, a former FIFA referee and now a reputable expert, assessed the level of refereeing in the confrontation in Gliwice, Poland, and commented on Oleksandr Usyk's statement with his claims to the arbitration:
"I believe that the refereeing team headed by Milanowicz coped with their duties. Yes, there were minor mistakes, but they did not affect the outcome.
Was there a violation of the rules on the Polissia player when the visitors scored the winning goal in stoppage time? It was a controversial moment, but, by and large, what did it change, since it was the Slovenes who scored, not the Zhytomyr team, who had no chance of saving themselves from relegation.
What did the famous boxer Oleksandr Usyk say about the bias of the Serbian referee team? These are all the emotions of Usyk, a fan, who, of course, expected a completely different debut from Polissia in European competitions. In my opinion, the Polissia players are primarily to blame for this failure. Because even in the second leg, they did not have a clear plan on how to hit the opponent's goal, and the defense continued to be in disarray," Stupar said.
