Famous Ukrainian coach Sergei Puchkov said what he thinks about the failure of Zhytomyr Polesya in the 2nd qualifying round of the Conference League, where the Ukrainian team twice lost to Slovenian Olimpija - first 0:2, and then 1:2.
Sergey Puchkov- What can I say... The result speaks for itself. Zhytomyrians did not go further, and now the club should look for the reasons for coaching mistakes, and what exactly the coaching staff failed to do.
We can talk about a lot of things, but the fact remains that in the confrontation with Olimpia lost two matches in a row. In the second of them we managed to score a quick goal against the Slovenians already in the 1st minute and led 1-0. To get such a chance, and even at the very beginning of the game, and not to take advantage of the success.... Unfortunately, that was all it took. The opponent scored twice yesterday and won. And this means that Zhytomyr team is not ready psychologically.
- What do you think are the feelings of Ukrainian fans and the owner of Zhytomyr club Gennadiy Butkevich, who invested a lot of money in "Polesie" and literally lived for the European Cup after these defeats?
- It is clear that it is not the best. We need to draw conclusions. And the sooner they will be made - the better. If we start the process under the conditional name "Let's see", I think it will be of no use. The problem may become deeper - and then what to do?
- After the match the representatives of "Polesie" - in particular, Alexander Usik and Imad Ashur - expressed their dissatisfaction with the quality of the arbitration. What do you say about it?
- The refereeing in this case has nothing to do with it. Who, tell me, prevented you from creating chances and scoring? You took the lead at the very beginning of the game - what else do you need? Bring it to the end, score the second goal and play on. Then you won`t have to look for reasons in external factors, like refereeing. But we couldn`t.
