Daniele De Rossi: "Dovbik is the striker we need. He is a strong, promising footballer"

Italian Roma head coach Daniele De Rossi commented on the strengthening of his team with Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbik, and also assessed his debut, which came in yesterday's control match with Greek Olympiacos (1:1).

"There are negotiations that cannot be successfully completed unless those who really have a special weight intervene. We wouldn't have been able to get Dovbik if it wasn't for the personal involvement of Dan Friedkin (owner and president of Roma - ed.).

Dovbik is the striker we need. He is a strong, promising footballer. Yes, he will have to learn a number of things that will be something new for him, but I'm sure he will adapt. We are very happy that he is with us.

In general, all our newcomers really wanted to move to Roma. It's not easy to see players refuse more favorable financial conditions or to move to better teams, but it gives a guarantee that the player will be with the team with all his heart. And it increases the quality, the level of the team itself.

As for the match with Olympiacos, I didn't want to put too much pressure on Dovbik. I always strive to act progressively. At the same time, it was interesting to see Dovbic, Sule and Dybala on the pitch at the same time. And I am satisfied with what I saw. But it is not a fact that they will always play together.

I am the one who has the most patience at this club. Who will play is not important - what matters is what the final result will be at the end. For me there is and will be no difference between those on the pitch and those on the bench," De Rossi said after the match against Olympiacos.
