Kryvbas head coach Yuriy Vernydub told us what he expects from his team's first match against Czech side Viktoria in the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League, which will take place today in Kosice.
"I am very pleased that Kryvbas has managed to make it to the European competitions in just two years of participation in the UPL. I am very grateful to the Club and my teammates that we are already taking our first steps in the Europa League in such a short time. We are determined.
We understand that the opponent is very powerful. "Last year, Victoria reached the 1/4 finals of the Conference League. But we want to achieve our goals, win and move on.
"Victoria plays aggressively, and we are ready for that. The team plays with three central defenders, and we also take this into account. The opponent has three players who play for the Czech national team. They are good players, one of them is a striker Schultz, who scored 18 goals last season. We respect our opponent, but we are by no means afraid of them.
The war with the Russians has been going on for three years now, and it is a difficult time for our country. We know what we are playing for and for whom. We all have many relatives and friends who are on the front line. So we know for whom we will play tomorrow. Why do we play in Slovakia? It has the best logistics center," Vernydub said.
