Taras Mykhailyk: "I am convinced that Dynamo will achieve the desired result"

In the first match of the Champions League qualifying round, Dynamo Kyiv and Glasgow Rangers from Scotland parted ways with a 1-1 draw. Former Dynamo player Taras Mykhalyk shared his impressions of the match in Lublin, Poland:

Taras Mikhalik

- As for me, a fairer score would be 1-0 in favor of Kyiv. Still, they controlled the course of events on the field for most of the game.

- Then how can you explain the fact that the Scots had the initiative at the end of the match?

- Most likely, the desire of the nominal hosts to play to the score, counting on sharp counterattacks. But we should also pay tribute to the guests, who, thanks to their activity on the flanks, made life difficult for the Dynamo defense.

- Before the match, the absence of Dynamo's injured stopper Dyachuk caused concern. How do you assess the actions of young Mykhailo, who replaced him?

- I am impressed with this guy's performance. Yes, there were still positional mistakes, inaccurate passes, but this is all due to the lack of experience in matches of this level. It will be easier and more useful for Dynamo from now on.

- It seemed that after the break, the Scots drew Dynamo into their usual football: they quickly passed the ball to Kyiv's possession, there was an advantage on the "second floor".

- I agree, but all the troubles for Dynamo started on the flanks, where the guests created a numerical majority thanks to the connections of the fullbacks. Obviously, Kyiv had to play more reliably with the backup. Then they would have definitely not conceded, especially since the final whistle was about to blow. It's a pity.

- Is Glasgow Rangers the favorite in the second leg?

- I don't think so. The chances are 50-50. Yes, the Scots will have the support of their home crowd, but I am convinced that Kyiv will work on their mistakes and achieve the desired result.

Безвідповідально бути "переконаним" поза процесом. Сказав би вже "сподіваюсь".
