Gasperini: "Atalanta is approaching the match with Real Madrid less competitive than at the end of last season"

Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini shared his disappointment with the summer transfer window. The coach is approaching the UEFA Super Cup match against Real Madrid with a critically minimal number of players.

"It's inevitable that this happened, but at the moment the season has already become more difficult for us. We had two very serious injuries, two cruciate ligament tears in almost three matches - in Scalvini and Scamacchi. And then there was the situation with Copmeyers. Three technically gifted and economically valuable players for the team and the club. During the summer transfer window, things did not go as we expected. We hope that some things can still happen before August 31.

To be honest, I was hoping to get to an important game like the UEFA Super Cup with a clearer and more stable team that has improved with new acquisitions after winning the Europa League final. But instead, at the moment, we are down to the bare minimum. Next Wednesday is the Super Cup, and we are approaching it with a team that is much less competitive than at the end of last season," Gasperini was quoted as saying by L'Eco di Bergamo.
