Germany captain Ilkay Gundogan will continue to play for Barcelona despite offers from other clubs, his agent and uncle Ilhan Gundogan has said.
- "It is true that some clubs have shown interest in Ilkay and wanted to bring him in. "But Ilkay's position is very clear: he will stay at Barcelona," said Ilhan Gundogan. "He is looking forward to the new season in Spain and will help Barca achieve its goals.
Gundogan, 33, joined Barca on a contract until 2025 last season after being capped by Manchester City in 2023. Barca has now been joined by coach Hansi Flick, Gundogan's national team coach in 2021-2023.
Spanish media report that Turkish club Fenerbahce is among the clubs interested in him. Gundogan, who has Turkish roots, said he might play in Turkey one day, "but not this summer."
